I was a patient of Ms. Karen Mazzara, LPC for 2.5 years. During a session, while I was attempting to explain something, Ms. Mazzara interrupted me and brusquely informed me she was terminating our relationship effective immediately. Although she later said she had been considering ending her care "for a long time," she had made no preparations for the transfer of my care to another therapist and effectively abandoned me. I reacted to this with great distress. Ms. Mazzara responded with platitudes. When this failed to calm me, she then mocked me, asking me if I "thought therapy would last forever." The distress caused by Ms. Mazzara's rejection left me deeply traumatized and depressed. Despite aggressive treatment by other mental health professionals, found without any assistance from Ms. Mazzara, I continue to struggle emotionally because of this callous and uncaring treatment. In my opinion, Ms. Mazzara is highly unprofessional, and she should be avoided at all costs.
